HuHot Mongolian Grills, the fastest growing Mongolian grill concept in the United States is a bold, exciting oasis in a desert of cookie cutter establishments. Adults and kids alike find themselves caught up in the excitement of each visit to HuHot, and after making my first visit there recently, I too found myself caught up in the excitement.
At HuHot Mongolian Grill, all of the food is prepared fresh on a daily basis. It is by far the most unique setting you'll find in the Mid-MO, which is perfect for first dates, anniversaries and even birthday parties. It's an almost festiv e atmosphere that delivers a smile on your face, no matter what the day has handed you.
I found myself reliving childhood memories of a restaurant back home that had many of the same elements, cooks grilling up your self-prepared meal selections right in front of you. This, for me, seems to give your meal a personal feel, a unique touch. You feel as though you had a hand in the delicious creation... and you did! That's why the moniker is perfect - "How Do You HuHot?"
There are three Mongolian Grill food bars where you begin your dining adventure:
The FIRST is where you'll find your meat, seafood and noodles. The SECOND is where you'll find up to 20 different kinds of vegetables. The THIRD is where you'll find, as HuHot calls it, "THE ESSENTIAL WEAPON," the sauces!
For HuHot newcomers like me, they recommend that you start with one of the prepared sauces, five or six ladles should do. For the practiced professional, the sky's the limit! You can mix and match both prepared sauces and create-your-own sauce ingredients to create an infinite number of flavorful combinations.
I started off my HuHot Mongolian Grill experience with Crab Rangoon for an appetizer, which were loaded to the brim with crab, topped with scallions filled with cream cheese, and served with sweet & sour sauce. I'm a huge fan of Crab Rangoon and was very pleased with the HuHot version.
My suggestion when making your way to the Mongolian Grill food bars is to start off with small portions so you may experiment with several different combinations to enrich your HuHot experience.
I started off by making my way to the meat/seafood/noodle bar and loading up on crab and chicken with a good portion of noodles. Then, I tossed some carrots, potatoes, onions, sprouts and eggs into my bowl while at the vegetable bar. Finally, I loaded up on the essential ingredient at HuHot Mongolian Grill - The Sauces! My personal favorite sauce was the Not-So-Sweet & Sour, which is their version of sweet & sour; a flavorful yet mild combination of tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar and spices.
There is nothing better than creating your own meal and having the "HuHot Grill Warriors" prepare it right before your very eyes.
I broke the cake tradition and enjoyed HuHot's Sweet Victory S'mores! It's a truly unique memory: roasting marshmallows on an open fire right at the table. HuHot enriches your experience by giving you a "disclaimer" on how to cook your Sweet Victory S'mores safely. You'll get a good laugh out of it!
HuHot Mongolian Grill is a great place for any occasion, it's nice to know that kids under three eat free. There are very affordable for lunch and dinner and when you consider it's a buffet style restaurant where you can sample as much as you like, you realize it's a great value.
If you don't "Know How You HuHot" yet, then I strongly suggest dropping by their location just off Providence in Columbia and giving it a try - you will truly have a fun, affordable, unique dining experience and may create a few memories along the way.
Happy Eating!
