Bootleggers is located in Osage Beach right off of Highway 54. Founded in 2008, Bootleggers Saloon features a "Speakeasy" atmosphere from the 1920s and is a favorite "hot spot" at the Lake. With summer right around the corner, the MMDG crew decided to check out the Lake for pre-season dining activity. The restaurant was fairly slow during lunch, but we were greeted immediately and seated at a table near the bar. This was our first visit and we were in awe of how big the place actually was. They even rent out the top for special occasions and have entertainment such as bands, karaoke and poker runs.

On an activity scale, the place seems to be ready for the season and we would recommend checking out their website for upcoming events and socials. For the food, we were enticed by the pork tenderloin special scribbled on a chalkboard when we walked in. The menu had just about anything that you would want--burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, dinner and full bar. Prices were reasonable for lunch, about $8-$12 for a lunch sandwich or burger with two sides and $12-$21 for the heartier "supper" entrees.

We both couldn't pass up the fried tenderloin with mash potatoes and corn! The food was quick to arrive and looked fantastic. The food was a 5 in our book but overall, we gave Bootleggers a 4 because of the wear and tear of the place. Maybe they are still in preseason activity.

Breaded Pork Tenderloin with Mashed Potatoes and Corn
The tenderloin wasn't just a deep friend patty from Sysco, but a tenderized cut of pork hand breaded and fried to a golden brown--delicious! The open face tenderloin was so tender we only used a fork to cut it. It was placed on top of a piece of toasted bread that was very filling. The mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like they were homemade, just like mom makes, with a creamy gravy to wash it all down. The corn was cooked just right, not too salty and not too buttery. We were also pleased with the portion amounts--it felt just right for lunch and we weren't sleepy or overly stuffed after finishing. The service was wonderful and the quality of food was super! This summer, if you can't find us on the Water Bars and Restaurants, you will find us at Bootleggers.
