There is this roll that isn't on the menu yet but if Jina is in, she will make it. It is called Mac Daddy roll. It is like a california roll but is topped with their five spiced calamari. You end up practically licking the plate! The Sin City roll is a staple menu item and is fantastic! Service was prompt and friendly! Kept our drinks filled without being too much.

We love going to Jina Yoos!! The scarlet roll is our favorite roll and we love when Jina brings out new stuff for us to try. I was shocked to see all of the negative comments on here. I would recommend trying it for yourself - I think you'll really like it!

The food here is incredible. SERVICE IS AWFUL!!!
Been 4 times, bad service each time. Daytime server is rude, and does not care about doing anything in a timely fashion. Jina Yoo herself is the only one I have noticed taking prompt and considerate care of her guests. Today's lunch experience for me was enough to make me want to do nothing but order "to go" from them. If the food wasn't so good, I would want nothing to do with this place.

Jina Yoo’s is my favorite Asian Restaurant in Columbia. I have been there several times with friends and had a blast sharing rolls – I think it’s definitely more fun to bring a group of people share everything and make a gathering of it. The “signature rolls” are simply divine, and the Tuesday night special on ½ price Sin City Rolls is great motivation to make a mid-week run to Jina’s!

The house rolls are all very good, but again to have the full experience you must order at least one of her Signature Rolls … so far I have tried: The Ruby Roll, Tiger in the Jungle, Sin City Roll, Passionate Shrimp, Monkey Goes Nuts … and my absolute favorite the Scarlet Shrimp roll. Each roll is extremely intricate and the plating is divine. They actually remind me more of a super yummy Amuse-Bouche and each roll is a work of art. My absolute favorite is the Scarlett Shrimp Roll.

It might take a little while to get served, but I am glad to know that all of my food is fresh – and as far as price goes, this is not the cheapest place to eat, but I would rather pay a little extra knowing that the ingredients are of high quality – and this is especially important when consuming sushi! Jina is always a joy to talk with and she always comes out to greet our table, and we feel like we are at home in her restaurant, and that she really appreciates our business and personally cares about her patrons.

I know there are some comments about service on this site, but Jina is doing her very best to find quality help and often does a majority of the work herself, as far as preparation goes, to make sure everything is right … and like any restaurant owner in Columbia knows finding good help is not an easy task in this town! When we go out to Jina Yoo’s we are not expecting a fast-food experience and make plans accordingly to have a leisurely and fun evening. Real good food takes time.

I have both worked in restaurants here and eaten at some of the most popular higher-end places, often spending over $100 for a good meal, and I have been horrified at the general lack of customer service in this town compared to the array of delectable foodie delights available! I can say that our server the past couple of times at Jina’s wasn’t the best I have ever had, but he was quite far from the worst in this town!

Jina Yoo's food is delicious. I've brought people who had never tried it - some who thought they didn't like sushi - and they've all loved it.

i was very excited to visit jina yoo's but after visiting there i will never go back. the food is average and overpriced, the service is horrendous, and i was surprised at how the overall uncleanliness of the restaurant.

Went there excited to try Jina Yoo's for lunch for the first time.

I will not go back....mainly the service and charging the wrong price on items listed on the lunch menu.

We asked for just couple of minutes to look at the menu, and finally had to run down the waiter over 20 min later to take our orders.

We got our soup and food before our appetizer. Then we did not get our sushi....we finally had to run down the waiter again to get our sushi.

We were only given one small plate for all, as opposed to a clean appetizer plate, clean entree' plate, and clean sushi plate.

We were there for lunch...it took over an hour and forty-five minutes and cost over $50. And, again they charged the wrong price.

Sorry, my time and money are too important to me...once we got the food, it was "ok". But I won't go back.

Went with a group for a birthday dinner. Food was awesome. Our table received a free appetizer. Really liked the menu. Will go back again and again.

This is the best sushi in Columbia. The food is priced well for the portions and Jina makes you feel right at home. By far my favorite restaurant in Columbia.

The review by Jules on June 2,2009 is totally uncalled for! Jules must work at either Osaka or Sake. I have tried both places. The owner of Osaka is a Chinese woman and they really don't know much about Sushi. The owner of Sake is Taiwanese and their rolls are OK but Nigiri are too small. Dollar for dollar Jina Yoo's has the best Sushi in Columbia! If you think other wise, you don't know what you are talking about!

This place totally sucks. The environment was cold and totally uninviting. The food was expensive and it advertises as a sushi joint but it should be just Korean, the sashimi was not good, the miso soup was just broth and everything was overpriced. I felt like I was intruding on them by eating there, they were totally rude. For a good place, go to Osaka or Sake if you want sushi.

We had the most delightful time at our first adventure to the Jina Yoos. The staff was attentive, the food was amazing, and Jina stopped by to check on us from time to time. I was expecting slow food as from prior reviews, but such wasn't the case for us. I will be returning.

Jina Yoo's is amazing!! The food is great with a huge variety and fantastic service. I will definitely go back as often as possible!

in one word.....Fantastic! I will go back many, many times. The decor, service, texture, taste, presentation of the food.....all great. Wonderful job Jina!

I love Jina Yoo's menu. The sushi is amazing! My only complaint is their service. A few months back I called in with a weeks notice to let them know I wanted to have a birthday dinner. After arriving and be seated promptly, my guests and I waited nearly thirty minutes to get water. Nothing gets me more upset when I see people get beverages before my table when they were seated after us. The night proceeding with long waits and before we knew it we were one of the last tables in the restaurant. A meal that should have taken no longer than 45 minutes lasted over 1 and a half! The night was spent wasted, waiting on people who were paid to serve us. Needless to say we won't be headed back any time soon.

I want to start by saying I have always had excellent service and care at this restaurant. The atmosphere is excellent, the owner cares about the service, you can tell. But I have had a hard time finding something that I really like. I was disappointed by some California rolls that did not even contain real crab meat but carried a price that would make one think otherwise. We spent a tremendous amount of money for a simple lunch, and wound up with a big bowl of rice with lettuce on top...a very unusual combination. I have yet to find a food there that I'm crazy about and I have eaten sushi often. I think mostly this is just the popular place to go more so than really a great place to eat...most people I talk to say they love it, but I'm not sure if that is just because they think it is a neat place to eat and it's "not cool" to say otherwise.

Jina Yoo's is one of the best places to eat in Columbia. The menu is interesting doesn't get old. The cocktails are great. My mom and I go there about once a month for lunch, and while the service has been hit or miss, the food doesn't disappoint.

For the last reviewer, yes the sushi chef did move on and is pleasing customers and taking his lack of professionalism elsewhere. I have been to Jina's several times and know what a struggle it has been for her to get qualified compitent help. The sushi chef was let go for failing to make his shifts, which was a frequent thing. So she did what she thought was best for her restaurant in the long run. Everything that I have had has been truly excellent there. I have had the Mrs. 007, Bulgolgi Philly off the lunch menu. From their apps I have had the pacific platter, zucchini pancake, and crabby basket. I have had the salad with wasabi soy dressing. From the entrees I have had the tilapia, and ribeye. From the sushi list I have had the ruby red roll, tiger in the jungle, california roll, passionate shrimp roll, and a few more that I cannot remember. Nothing in this list has dissapointed me. Every drink that I have had from their signature cocktails has been amazing. The service is not always the greatest, however looking around Columbia, no one has service to brag about so I can look past it for this amazing food.

The first time I visited Jina Yoo's was for dinner on or around the later part of January, and we were very excited about the quality and exceptional taste of the food! The California rolls were the BEST that I've ever had (and I've had a lot of California rolls at a lot of different restaurants in a lot of different cities), and the Yin & Yang roll made me a believer in kimchi. I was pleased to brag to my friends of probably what I consider the best sushi of my life. Kudos to the Sushi Chef at that time! The ambience was lovely and tasteful, and the waitstaff was average but the food definitely compensated for the fair service.

We recently visited Jina Yoo's for lunch and was terribly disappointed not only in the quality of the service but the quality of the food. The waitstaff took over 10 minutes to greet us after we were seated, and then did not even bother to offer us beverages. Moreover, we ordered our appetizer in anticipation of actually receiving the appetizer BEFORE our entrees. Nothing irritates me more than when the entree comes out right on top of the appetizer! AND our server who was definitely not blithe and most assuredly comatose, bothered not even to apologize for this error. Other tables were left in disarray (after customers had left), for the entirety of our meal (which is clearly unsanitary and unappetizing). Additionally, when our server could not be found for several minutes, other waitstaff was snide and rude when asked a simple question. But what had to be the greatest disappointment was that the quality of the sushi had undoutedly gone from excellent to poor!

I am a tough critic but when I pay for a service (especially considering Jina Yoo's reputation and prices), I expect good service. Now I realize that there are exceptions and circumstances that are sometimes explicable; however, I've heard on several occasions that my experience has been much like others. I could easily spend 40 bucks at lunch somewhere else and moving forward, I won't hesitate to do so.

Jina Yoo has an average restaurant that could easily be fabulous, save for the most unsatisfactory service and the food that has become disappointing. (Rumor has it the sushi chef that was there at our first dining experience is now pleasing customers elsewhere).

Went to Jina's with little expectation, but came out totally blown away by the experience unfamiliar at restaurants in Columbia, MO. First, ordered happy-hour appetizers: California rolls and Shrimp tempura rolls. Both were excellent and only cost $3.50 each. Excellent value. I ordered Bibimbop (a korean rice dish with mixed grilled vegies and beef) and it looked beautiful and tasted even better. My companion had Balsamic-glazed grilled chicken. The presentation fantastic and the taste was out of this world. Overall, fantastic food and great service. My only regret is that I haven't been to Jina's sooner..

Columbia's undiscovered jewel! The food is all great. The house sushi rolls one-of-a-kind and all that I have tried were really yummy. Really good apps and everything on the menu is unique. Try the shrimp bad hair day, or the gorilla in the kitchen dessert. Service has always been excellent, Jina stops by almost every table, and since they are new it's hardly ever crowded. Really nice atmosphere great for a wonderful adult evening with friends or date night.

What a wonderful new (healthy!)gourmet experience! Jina Yoo's offers a relaxing and elegant environment for visiting with friends while enjoying excellent and beautifully presented food. If you want to impress a date or treat a special friend or your parents this is the place to do it! Cost is on the upper end for a full course meal but well worth it.

I would give Jina Yoo's a 5 for the food. We order several appetizers when we go because they are so good. Our server's have all been good for the most part. What bothers my husband and I is Jina will go around and talk to certain guests, and even offer free samples of something. If she doesn't think you are "somebody", she won't give you the time of day. I guess we aren't "somebody".

Jina Yoo's is fantastic. I don't know how "traditional" it is, but I DO know that it's fantastic!! It's very classy and nice inside, and the food is excellent. Jina is usually there herself checking on customers and cooking. If you're looking for an upscale, asian dining experience, then check out Jina Yoo's.
